Investigating Symmetry in our Alphabet

A number of capital letters in our alphabet are symmetrical. More specifically, several letters can be reflected across a horiztal or a vertical line going through their centre. In class today we looked at all of the letters of the alphabet, focusing specifically on capital letters and we found that:
  • Some have NO lines of symmetry
  • Some have 1 line of symmetry
  • Some have 2 lines of symmetry
  • 1 letter has many lines of symmetry
  • Most letters DO NOT have rotational symmetry
  • O is in a category of its own
Take a look at the alphabet again and see if you can remember which letters had symmetry.
